NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has notified the cancellation of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 counselling All India Quota (AIQ) mop-up round. On March 31, the Supreme Court cancelled the mop-up round over anomalies in 146 fresh seats that were added after round 1 and 2.

“It is for the information of all candidates and colleges participating in PG counselling 2021 that in compliance to the order of Supreme Court, the AIQ mop-up round of PG counselling conducted during the period of March 21 to 31, 2022 stands cancelled,” read the MCC notice.
NEET PG 2021 Counselling updates
- The earlier allotments or admissions done in NEET PG 2021 counselling mop-up round will be deemed to be cancelled.
- A fresh mop up round of NEET PG counselling 2021 will be conducted in due course of time for which the schedule will be announced on MCC website soon..
- The candidates who have taken admission in earlier mop up round during the period of March 21 to 31, 2022 can take their original certificates back from their respective allotted colleges as they will have to apply again in fresh mop up round according to their eligibility.
- The colleges are directed to return the original certificates of the candidates without hassle and in a time bound manner. The fees or pending dues should be refunded to mop up round candidates so that the candidates are not put to any inconvenience.
The Supreme Court on March 31 cancelled the NEET PG 2021 Counselling mop-up round for AIQ seats, as per Live Law. The top court arrived at the decision to resolve the issues arising due to addition of 146 fresh seats to mop-up round which were not available in round 1 and 2 of counselling.

The bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and Bela M Trivedi has directed the authorities to conduct a special round of counselling for these 146 seats and permitted candidates who joined through AIQ quota or state quota to participate in the new counselling. The court has also asked the authorities to invite options from students within a day after issuing the fresh notification and complete the process within 3 days.
