In NEET PG counselling process, candidates who fall under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category are eligible for a 5% reservation in medical courses through the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) and Central Universities. This reservation is meant to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equitable access to medical education.

However, to claim this reservation, candidates must provide a valid PwD certificate. Not all hospitals or centers can issue these certificates for NEET-PG. The National Board of Examinations (NBE), in consultation with medical authorities, designates specific centers that are authorised to evaluate and issue PwD certificates.

NEET PG 2024 exam was held on August 11 in two shifts. The first shift was from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the second from 3:30 pm to 7 pm.

To check the NEET PG counselling 2024 schedule, follow these steps:

Around 2,28,540 candidates took the exam conducted in English for 3 hours and 30 minutes and consisted of 200 MCQs divided into three parts.

Candidates from the general category must deposit Rs 1,000 for admission to AIQ or Central University, while those from the SC and ST categories must pay Rs 500. Candidates seeking admission to a deemed university must pay Rs 5,000.

NEET PG counselling includes a total of 6,102 colleges and 649 hospitals, offering 26,168 seats for Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 seats for Master of Surgery (MS), 922 seats for Postgraduate Diploma, and 1,338 seats for the Diplomate of National Board – Centralised Entrance Test (DNB CET).

The passing marks (or qualifying cut-off) for NEET PG 2024 depend on the candidate's category. Typically, the cut-off is expressed in terms of the 50th or 40th percentile, depending on the category. The qualifying percentiles are as follows:

• General/EWS Category: 50th percentile.
• SC/ST/OBC (including PWD of SC/ST/OBC): 40th percentile.
• PWD (General/EWS): 45th percentile.

The corresponding score cut-offs vary each year based on the difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates. 

NEET PG 2024 marking scheme:

• +4 marks for each correct answer.
• -1 mark for each incorrect answer.
• No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

1. Mode of Exam: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
2. Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes.
3. Total Questions: 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
4. Total Marks: 800.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the NEET PG results on August 23, 2024. However, some candidates have expressed concerns about discrepancies in their results, claiming that improper normalization has resulted in unexpectedly low ranks.

NEET PG 2024 is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The exam is held under the guidance of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.

The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) in Uttar Pradesh has barred 81 candidates from taking part in the UP NEET PG counselling 2024 because they failed to join the seats assigned to them in last year’s stray vacancy round.

The MCC NEET PG 2024 counselling will tentatively consist of round 1, round 2, mop-up round, and AIQ stray vacancy round.

The following reservation policy will be followed in NEET PG counselling 2024- 

• SC - 15%
• ST - 7.5%
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list - 27%
• EWS - 10%
• PwD - 5%

The number of NEET PG seats has increased from 31,185 in 2014 to 70,645 currently, according to a written response by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the Parliament. Over the past five years, the number of postgraduate seats increased from 39,583 in 2018-19 to 64,059 in 2022-23, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in his reply.

The list of required documents for NEET PG 2024 counselling is as follows: 

• NEET PG admit card issued by NBE
• NEET PG result, score card
• MBBS mark sheets of first, second, and third professional examinations
• Provisional, degree certificate of MBBS
• Internship completion certificate
• Permanent, provisional registration certificate issued by MCI
• High school, higher secondary, date of birth certificate as proof of birth date
• A valid photo-identity proof (PAN, aadhar, voter ID, passport, driving licence)
• SC, ST, OBC and OPH certificate (as applicable)

Supreme Court will resume NEET PG 2024 hearing on October 25, 2024.

The MCC NEET PG counselling schedule is awaited. The schedule will be announced and will be made available at mcc.nic.in.

Candidates who want to check the complete schedule will be able check it on the official website of MCC at mcc.nic.in after it is released.

The MCC NEET PG counselling schedule will have dates of registration, seat allotment result, reporting dates, and other information will be shared.

Candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG conducted by NBE will be eligible for the Fifty percent (50%) AIQ seats of Central University.

• Once done, fill the application form and make the payment of application fee.

As per past trends, the MCC is expected to conduct three rounds of NEET PG counselling for all India quota seats. After that, the MCC will hold a stray vacancy round for leftover seats. 

Several medical students’ associations and resident doctors’ groups shared a tentative NEET PG 2024 counselling schedule on social media, however, the MCC website still says, “PG counselling schedule 2024 will be available soon.”

The committee commenced the NEET PG 2024 round 1 counselling registration process on September 20. The date and time of the release of the NEET PG schedule have not been announced yet by MCC.
