NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will resume hearing the plea filed by the NEET PG 2024 aspirants seeking a direction to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to release the answer key, response sheets, and raw scores of candidates, and normalization method used in the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. Students alleged irregularities in NEET PG result 2024 and questioned the transparency of the exam after noticing unexpected low ranks.
A bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud postponed the NEET PG 2024 Supreme Court hearing to October 5 as no one on behalf of the centre appeared in the last hearing and the matter was further posted for hearing on October 25.
During the last hearing in September, the bench comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra noted that the NEET PG 2024 exam pattern was revised three days before the exam and termed it “unusual”. Taking note of the submissions made by the lawyers representing the petitioners, the apex court issued notices to NBEMS and centre, seeking responses within a week.
A total of 19 NEET PG 2024 candidates moved the top court against NBEMS, demanding clarity on NEET PG 2024 results and an option for revaluation. Students have been campaigning on social media, expressing disappointment over the chaos led by odd results, cases of paper leak, and postponement of the PG medical entrance exam.
It is expected that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will issue the NEET PG 2024 counselling schedule after the NEET PG SC hearing. The counselling authority did commence the registration process on mcc.nic.in and some medical student groups shared a NEET PG counselling schedule 2024 on social media. However, the dates are yet to be updated on the official website.
Several aspirants, doctors, and ministers have written to the union education and health ministers urging their intervention and expedition of the admission process. The aggrieved students have also been flagging the delay in counselling.
NEET PG 2024 result was declared in August but the medical board didn’t release the NEET PG cut-off 2024. The board used the normalization procedure used by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in its exams as the NEET PG exam was held in multiple shifts for the first time.
After getting deferred due to paper leak, NEET PG 2024 was conducted on August 11 for admission to MD, MS, DNB, PG Diploma programmes. Over 2.28 lakh aspirants wrote the test.
