The NEET PG transparency plea filed earlier was scheduled for October. However, after filing an urgent application, the court agreed to hear on September 4.
During the brief hearing, the petitioners explained that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had initially promised to publish all questions along with the NEET PG answer key but later issued a “corrective notice” limiting it to question IDs.
The bench asked the petitioners: “Why do you think there is no transparency? Is it because you got less marks?”
The court added: “Whenever the court tries to ensure a smooth process, people take undue advantage of it. Just take a chance, let’s go to the Supreme Court, invoke Article 32, ask for numbers, answer keys… Whatever you have performed…”

The petitioners argued that “no one can know the correct answer by looking at the question IDs”. This, they said, undermines the purpose of the answer key as candidates won’t be able to verify the answers without the actual questions.
The court directed the respondents to collect the paper work and posted the matter for next week.
Aspirants have been awaiting the NEET PG Supreme Court verdict as counselling is scheduled to begin soon, amid speculated that the admission process could be delayed if the judgement went against the NBEMS. However, following today's hearing, there will be no delay in the NEET PG counselling process .
As per reports, the MCC NEET PG counselling 2025 is expected to commence in mid-September.
