In compliance with the Supreme Court order, for the first time NBEMS will publish the NEET PG answer key 2026. Along with the NEET PG answer keys, NBEMS will also issue the NEET PG 2026 response sheet of the candidates.

According to the NEET PG 2026 brochure, candidates will be able to access the question ID numbers, the correct answer key to questions and responses marked through their applicant login from the official website of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

NBEMS conducted NEET PG 2026 for over 2.65 lakh candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 338 cities in a single shift on August 30. NEET PG result 2026 will be announced by September 30.

NEET PG Answer Key 2026: Marking scheme

NEET PG 2026 paper consisted of 180 MCQs with 720 marks. As per the NEET PG 2026 marking scheme, four marks will be given for every correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for incorrect answers. This year, NBE reduced the number of questions asked in the exam from 200 to 180.

However, NBEMS will conduct NEET PG 2026 re-exam for the 2,445 candidates affected by the power disruption at Jaipur exam centre. The re-exam will be held on September 5, from 3 pm onwards.

The formula to calculate NEET PG scores 2026 is shown below.

NEET PG scores = Total correct answers X 4 - Total incorrect answers X 1

SC directives to NBEMS

Last year, SC directed the medical exam board in to publish raw scores, answer keys issuance policy and normalisation method for the NEET PG exam. The top court issued around 10 directives for NEET PG counselling, which also included strict penalties for seat blocking.

However, this year’s brochure only reveals that answer keys will be issued in compliance with SC’s direction, and there’s no note on the normalisation method for preparing NEET PG results 2026.

The NEET PG scores will be used for admissions to MD, MS, other postgraduate programmes in medical colleges across the country. NEET PG counselling dates 2026 will be announced after declaration of results.

NEET PG Tie-Breaking Policy 2026

In the event of two or more candidates obtaining the same score, one or more of the

following tie-breaking criteria shall be used for resolving the tie. The tie-breaker criteria are as follows.

  • Those having overall lesser number of negative responses in entire exam will be placed at a better merit position, i.e., will get a higher rank in the merit list.
  • Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in the ‘section A’ of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position i.e. will get a higher rank in the merit list.
  • Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in ‘aaection B’ of the question paper will be placed in better merit position
  • The candidate having lesser number of negative responses in the ‘section C’ of the question paper will get a higher rank in the merit list.
  • Those securing higher aggregate marks (in percentage) in all MBBS professional examinations will be placed at a better merit position.
  • An older candidate will be placed at a better merit position, they will get a higher rank in the merit list.

The cut-off date for completion of the internship towards eligibility for NEET PG 2026 is September 30.
