NEET PG Counselling 2024 Live: MCC schedule soon at mcc.nic.in; admission process

Aspirants have requested the Supreme Court to put a hold on the NEET PG 2024 counselling process until their concerns are addressed.

The petitioners have demanded that the National Board of Examinations (NBE) disclose both raw as well as the final NEET PG 2024 normalized scores. The petitioners want to review their performance and understand the normalization method applied for NEET PG 2024 results.  

The NEET PG 2025 exam is expected to be held in June 2025. The exact NEET PG 2024 exam date is yet to be announced by the officials. 

Candidates are requesting access to their individual NEET PG 2024 response sheet, seeking to view their specific answers to each exam question.

Sudha Ramakrishnan, MP from Mayiladuthurai, has written to Union health minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, urging him to expedite the NEET PG 2024 counselling process. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET PG) 2024 examination.

Several NEET PG 2024 candidates filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to issue the NEET PG 2024 answer key along with candidates' response sheets and raw scores. Aspirants raised questions on the transparency in the NEET PG result 2024 due to absence of clarity on the normalization method adopted by the board for the first time in the exam's history.

During the last Supreme Court hearing on NEET PG result 2024, a bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud described it "unusual" that the NEET PG exam pattern was changed at the last minute. The top court issued a notice to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), requesting the disclosure of the NEET PG 2024 answer keys and question papers and asked to ensure transparency in the medical admission process.

The number of NEET PG seats has increased from 31,185 in 2014 to 70,645 currently, according to a written response by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the Parliament. Over the past five years, the number of postgraduate seats increased from 39,583 in 2018-19 to 64,059 in 2022-23, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in his reply.

In NEET PG counselling 2024, the following reservation policy will be followed: 

• SC - 15%
• ST - 7.5%
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list - 27%
• EWS - 10%
• PwD - 5%

Supreme Court advocates told Careers360 that NEET PG Supreme Court case will not be heard today but on October 25 only. "The Supplementary List (Miscellaneous Cases) for 15th Oct 2024 - 10:30 AM onwards, has been released by SC. These cases would be taken up by CJI Bench. There is no mention of “Ishika Jain vs NBE” in that list. As per information posted by the petitioner’s, the case would be heard on 25th October 2024 (Friday) as scheduled, the advocates of “Ishika Jain” couldn’t get any earlier date in the said matter."

The National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024 will be conducted for admission to 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in MD, MS, DNB, PG Diploma programmes. 

As per the update on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024 schedule will be announced 'soon'. Notably, the NEET PG Supreme Court case will be heard on October 25. MCC might announce the schedule only after the judgment in the case.
