NEET PG aspirants ‘uncertain’ about AIQ seats as Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, and UP have extended or postponed the NEET PG round 3 counselling.
NEW DELHI: NEET PG aspirants across the states are again left in limbo as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced that it will proceed with the stray vacancy round for all India Quota (AIQ) seats despite the uncertainty regarding the Maharashtra NEET PG round 3 counselling.
The Maharashtra NEET PG round 3 selection list, which was scheduled to be out on February 6, stands postponed as the state counselling committee is awaiting the updated in-service candidate data.
Besides Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh have extended or postponed the NEET PG counselling. The prolonged delay in conducting the state NEET PG counselling has led 75 aspirants across the state to approach the Supreme Court demanding a ‘fair chance’ in PG medical admission.
MCC to start NEET PG stray vacancy tomorrow
In the latest notification, the MCC called for “urgent attention” of DMEs' and directors of state counselling authorities of all states and union territories (UTs), and asked them to submit the data of joined candidates of all rounds held so far on intramcc portal, intramcc.nic.in, by 5 pm today.
Informing that the MCC NEET PG round 3 counselling ended on February 9, the medical counselliing committee said: “The filtering out of joined candidates through state counselling is mandatory before stray vacancy round of UG counselling.”
In this regard, the MCC urged “all state counselling authorities are requested to share the data of joined candidates of all rounds held so far on intramcc portal provided by MCC latest upto 05:00 P.M of 11.02.2025 so that candidates holding a seat in state colleges are weeded out before seat processing of Stray Vacancy Round of All India PG counselling being conducted by MCC”.
Additionally, it has also provided the details of candidates who joined in round 1, 2, and 3.
Maharashtra NEET PG counselling 2024
The Maharashtra State CET Cell published the provisional state merit list for the 20% in-service quota candidates in NEET PG for Maharashtra only on February 4. “Due to update in In service candidate data as per Hon. Court order in WP No 3864/2025 dated 10/02/2025 the selection list for cap round 3 is postponed,” the official website, medical2024.mahacet.org/NEET-PGM-2024/login, read.
The Maharashtra NEET PG state merit list was revised for the round 1 counselling after 116 in-service alleged that the incentive marks were not added while preparing the merit list.
Madhya Pradesh NEET PG counselling 2024
Madhya Pradesh is the only major state lagging behind in NEET PG counselling. The slow admission process has largely affected the state aspirants who are deprived of a chance at securing their desired branch and college. The MP NEET PG round 2 allotment results were declared on January 30, when the MCC had already notified the AIQ round 3 allotment list.
Rajasthan NEET PG counselling 2024
SMS Medical College, Jaipur, has revised the Rajasthan NEET PG round 3 counselling for MD, MS, Post MBBS DNB, and Post MBBS diploma courses as on February 10. The round 3 state merit list was published on February 3, however, it did not publish the provisional allotment list on February 5.
Along with the revised schedule, the officials have also announced the allotment results of 1,998 candidates. “Allotments are subject to final outcome of court cases pending, if any,” the official website read.
As per the new schedule, candidates will be able to download the Rajasthan NEET PG allotment order from the official website, rajpgneet2024.org, and make payment of tuition fee by February 14. Candidates have been asked to report and submit the required documents at the allotted college by February 15.
MCC NEET PG stray vacancy round 2024
The NEET PG counselling schedule for the stray vacancy round was revised again on February 8 for AIQ seats. The MCC will commence the NEET PG stray vacancy round from tomorrow, February 12, on its official website, mcc.nic.in. The registration link will be available till February 16.
The choice filling for the stray vacancy round will begin on February 13. The final seat allotment results for the AIQ seats will be announced on February 19.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced in October last year that it will prepare the NEET PG state merit list for counselling for all states, except for Haryana and Goa. However, due to incorporation of the normalisation method in preparing NEET PG results and the introduction of percentile, a lot of states flagged technical and procedural errors in the state merit list.
