NEET PG Counselling 2024: MCC begins nationality conversion facility for NRI aspirants

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has commenced the facility for medical aspirants to change their nationality from Indian to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG counselling 2024. Those who are claiming to be NRI can apply for nationality conversion till September 17.

“Candidates who are claiming to be NRI as per the directions or orders of the Supreme Court of India, should send their relevant documents in support of their claim to change nationality from Indian to NRI through email nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com from 10 am of September 15 till 10 am of September 17,” said MCC in the official notification.

NEET PG Counselling 2024: Documents required for nationality change

MCC advised candidates to send all the documents in a single mail within the deadline as mails received after the stipulated time will not be considered. The following documents will be required:

Documents claiming that the sponsorer is an NRI (passport, visa of the sponsorer).

• Relationship of NRI with the candidate as per the Supreme Court orders
• Affidavit from the sponsorer that he or she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarized.
• Embassy certificate of the sponsorer (certificate from the consulate).
• NEET scorecard of the candidate.
• Family tree notarized by Tehsildar.

The counselling panel further warned candidates against fake documents. “The conversion of nationality of candidates from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ is ‘Provisional’ based on the documents submitted by the candidates which will be verified by the allotted college authorities at the time of reporting and the embassy certificate from the sponsorer may be sent to the Ministry of External Affairs/ respective high commissions for verification. If found ‘FAKE’ the provisional allotment of candidate may be cancelled and legal action might be initiated by the competent authority,” it stated.

NEET PG counselling is conducted for admission to 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats in MD, MS, DnB, and PG Diploma programmes offered in medical colleges across the country.
