NEET 2026 Registration LIVE: MBBS, BDS application form closes today; online link, exam date, updates

For the 2026–27 academic year, India is expected to have around 1,29,026 MBBS seats in over 817 medical colleges, including AIIMS and JIPMER. The National Medical Commission (NMC) decides this seat distribution. About 59,416 to 63,683 seats are in government colleges. Out of these, 15% are filled through MCC counselling under the All India Quota (AIQ), and 85% are reserved for the State Quota.

NEET 2026 registration is ongoing, and around 22–24 lakh students are expected to apply by the extended deadline of March 11, 2026. Early reports show that over 23 lakh students have already registered, which may surpass the 2024 record of 24 lakh, though some reports suggest it could slightly drop to 21.5 lakh.

During the NEET UG 2026 registration process, while filling out the application form, applicants may select three preferred examination centre cities in their order of preference.
