The Supreme Court on Thursday permitted the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the NEET results 2021 for admission to undergraduate medical courses, saying that it cannot hold the results of over 16 lakh students. The apex court was hearing a petition challenging Bombay High Court’s order asking NTA to not declare NEET 2021 results and conduct re-examination for two aspirants whose question papers and OMR sheets had got mixed up at a centre in Maharashtra.
Petitions were also filed for cancellation of the NEET UG 2021 exam after the paper leak reports surfaced. However, the top had dismissed the plea and said that it cannot cancel an exam in which over 7.5 lakh students have appeared.
This year, the NEET UG 2021 exam was conducted amid a furor over an alleged NEET 2021 paper leak, which was later confirmed by Jaipur police. However, the NTA had initially denied any leak or security breach of NEET 2021. Students had flooded social media with hashtags #CBIforNTA and #OperationNEET to voice their opinion.
