NEET SS 2025 on November 7, 8; NMC deadline, NBEMS registration delay spur postponement concerns

With just 28 days left for the exam, the NBEMS has not yet started the application process for NEET SS 2025 exam. Both the registration delay and the NMC deadline have caused panic among aspirants.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Examination Super Specialty (NEET SS 2025) will be held in November, as per the tentative exam calendar. However, the recent deadline set by the NMC for all medical colleges to submit NEET SS admission details has candidates worrying about a possible postponement of the exam.
With just 28 days left for the exam, the NBEMS has not yet started the application process. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has also asked all medical colleges to submit admission details of candidates admitted through NEET SS scores by October 15. Both the registration delay and the NMC deadline for the submission of admission details have caused panic among aspirants.
“The NBE helpline number is absolutely useless. They won’t give information about 2024 NEET SS completion and won’t give information about upcoming NEET SS 2025 which is almost within 28 days (apparently?). Why is the NBE helpline not helping?” Miit Manek posted on X.
However, as per the NBEMS exam calendar published in August, the NEET SS 2025 exam is tentatively scheduled for November 7 and 8. The exam will be held in two shifts — 9 am to 11:30 am and 2 pm to 4:30 pm, the board said.
The NEET SS entrance exam is held for admission to Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) super speciality courses. The exam was not held last year due to admission delays caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
Several student groups across the country had urged the health ministry, NMC, and MCC to declare the results and conduct the admission process within the proposed timeline to avoid a repeat of “zero academic year” .
The NEET SS was declared on April 25 and the scorecards were uploaded on May 2. Doctors’ groups have also written to the health ministry requesting postponement of NEET SS citing clash with the university exams.
