NEET SS aspirants have proposed a 'strict timeline' to avoid further delay in the admission process and urged NMC, MCC, and NBEMS to complete the counselling by May first week.
NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu Resident Doctors Association (TNRDA) has urged the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), National Medical Commission (NMC), to declare the NEET SS results 2025 before April end to avoid a repeat of the “zero academic year”.
In a letter addressed to the president of PGMEB, NMC, the resident doctors expressed their concerns over prolonged delay in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Super Specialty ( NEET SS 2024 ) admission process, which has left thousands of aspirants in limbo.
The NEET SS 2024 exam was not held last year, due to the prolonged admission delay in the previous years mainly stemming from the academic disruption caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
Highlighting the same, the doctors’ group wrote: “This timeline is vital to avoid a repeat of the 2023 “zero academic year” and to maintain the continuity of training in super specialty departments, which are already facing critical shortages in manpower.” As per the NBE schedule 2024, the NEET SS result is scheduled to be announced by April 30.
“Delayed admissions affect not only the careers of young doctors but also the delivery of essential care in high-dependency fields such as Cardiology, Critical Care, Neurology, Neonatology, and Oncology,” the letter read.

NEET SS aspirants propose 'strict timeline'
Appealing for a strict timeline and speedy admission process, the TNRDA proposed 4 immediate measures:
- Announce NEET SS results 2024 before the last week of April 2025.
- Start NEET SS counselling 2024 in the last week of April 2025
- Complete the NEET SS 2024 counselling rounds by the first week of May 2025.
- Ensure admissions and joining of DM/M.Ch candidates by the second week of May 2025.
Further, they also appealed to the NMC, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to take a coordinated action to expedite the NEET SS admission process. The letter was also marked to top health institutions such as the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and Indian Medical Association (IMA).
Aspirants not only requested for the NEET SS results 2025, but also for a revised and “accelerated” schedule at the earliest.
