NEW DELHI: Around 239 students have urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) to reopen the registration window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2023 for a period of two-three days. In a letter to NTA, aspirants cited payment failures, error in uploading documents, server down issues as the reasons for not being able to fill NEET UG 2023 application form and hence, the demand for reopening. NEET UG 2023 registration closed on April 6 and correction window will close today. NEET UG 2023 will be conducted on May 7.

“We, the undersigned students, would like to request you to reopen the NEET UG registration for 2-3 days. We understand that the last date for registration was recently closed, however, there were many students who were unable to complete the registration process due to various reasons,” read the letter.

All India Students’ Union shared the letter on its Twitter handle and said, “239 students have sent a joint letter to NTA requesting to open #NEETUG2023 registration window. Let's hope NTA considers their plea and takes the necessary steps to support their aspirations.”

Aggrieved students argued that CUET UG 2023 and JEE Main 2023 application windows were reopened due to similar issues and it is unfair that NEET UG 2023 registration window is not. “It is imperative that all students have an equal opportunity to complete the registration process and write the exam,” they said.

Defending themselves about not completing the registration earlier, the aspirants said that moral justification or counselling should not be done in this matter and it should be approached “systematically”. Students alleged that the issues could have been avoided if there was no server issue on the last day.

“It is unfair to assume that the students should have done their registration earlier and justify the server issue of the last day of the registration while the students’ careers are at stake. We urge you to keep yourself in the shoes of the students and take appropriate action to address this issue,” NEET UG aspirants further said and urged NTA to reopen the registration process.
