NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 on May 4 for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other programmes in medical and dental colleges. NTA will follow the pre-COVID NEET UG exam pattern from this year.
The NEET UG 2025 exam will now have 180 compulsory questions, including 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions from Biology. The exam will be conducted for a duration of 180 minutes from 2 pm to 5 pm. NTA has not made any changes to the NEET marking scheme.
Due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the testing agency gave a relaxation in the NEET exam pattern. The question paper carried a total of 200 questions, but candidates were required to attempt only 180. Each subject—Physics, Chemistry and Biology—was divided into two sections. Section A had 35 compulsory questions, while Section B had 15 questions, out of which candidates could attempt any 10.
The NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The total marks for the NEET 2025 exam will be 720. The NEET marking scheme is outlined in the table below.
Particulars | Marks allotted |
Correct answer | +4 |
Incorrect answer | -1 |
No answer/ Multiple answers | 0 |
The test agency earlier informed that every effort will be made to ensure each question has only one correct answer. However, if it is found that a question has multiple correct answers, the following rules will apply:
To address false claims related to NEET UG 2025, the NTA has launched a dedicated platform for candidates to report suspicious activities. The portal allows candidates to report issues such as access to the exam question paper, exam content, or impersonators posing as government officials. Medical aspirants can download the NEET admit card 2025 through the official website at neet.nta.nic.in.
