NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) adds more 156 seats for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduates (NEET UG) counselling 2022.

MCC also announced that candidates who have been allotted seats in NEET UG counselling round-1 to resign their seats by November 2, 2022. In case they do not resign, candidates will be considered as part of NEET UG 2022 counselling round-2.

If the candidate gives consent for upgradation to the round-2 of counselling, participates but is not upgraded, they will not be allowed to resign the seat. In such a case rules of round-2 will apply since the candidate has exercised choices and participated in round-2. MCC issued a notice that read "round-1 joined candidates who neither participate in round-2 nor resign the seat of round-1 will be considered part of round-2 after the stipulated time."
The round 2 rules also state that if candidates join their allotted college, they will become ineligible for other counselling process and if they don’t, their security money will be forfeited.
According to an MCC notification, all students who have been allotted any seat in the AIQ 1st round can resign their seat by November 1 to avoid security amount forfeiture penalty in the next round. Some of the states which will release the college allotment results after November 1 include Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh. If a student has got a seat in the deemed university and they are expecting seat allotment through state counseling also, they will have to decide by November 1, otherwise they will lose their security amount of Rs 2 lakh.
