According to the detailed analysis carried out by IIT Madras as per the ministry of education’s order, there was no mass or localised malpractice found in the NEET exam. The data shows a bell-shaped curve in the NEET results indicating no abnormality in results, it said.
“NEET counselling process will be conducted in four rounds starting from the third week of July. For any candidate, if it is found that he/she has been the beneficiary of any malpractice, candidature of such person would be cancelled at any stage during the counselling process or even afterwards,” the Union government said. However, the seat allocation will depend on the timing of such cancellation.
How NEET counselling process will be held
Explaining the NEET UG counselling 2024 process, the Centre said that the students will be allowed to change seats as per the preference opted by them in the first and second round. Therefore, if the seats are cancelled before the third round, it will not have any impact on overall counselling and allotment, it said.
The third round of NEET UG 2024 counselling is expected to begin in the second week of September. “If candidature is cancelled after the third round, vacant seats can still be offered in subsequent rounds. However, candidates who have already been allocated seats in earlier rounds will not be able to participate in subsequent rounds,” the Centre clarified.
In a third scenario, if a candidature is cancelled after the fourth and final round, the vacant seats will be filled through an additional round depending on the approval from the Supreme Court.
