When will NTA announce NEET UG, JEE Main, CUET 2024 exam dates? All you need to know

NEW DELHI: School educational boards have started announcing the Class 12 board exam dates 2024. Students who wish to pursue higher education in engineering, medicine and undergraduate (UG) programmes will have to appear in the national-level entrance exams - Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main 2024), National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024) and Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2024) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The NTA holds the JEE Main 2024 exam for admission to BTech, BE, BArch and BPlanning and other engineering programmes. NEET 2024 exam is held for admission to MBBS, BDS. CUET UG 2024 exam is conducted for UG admission in central universities and other participating institutes. The CUET exam was introduced in 2022 by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

JEE Main 2023 exam was held in two sessions - January 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, and February 1, and April session on 6, 8, 10, 11, 12. NEET UG exam was held on May 7 last year and the NEET registration began on March 6. Whereas CUET UG 2023 was conducted by the NTA from May 21 to June 23.

After the debut CUET UG exam was marred by technical glitches and postponement of JEE and NEET several times after the date announcement due to clash with board exams and other competitive exams, the NTA formed two committees to look into the matter. The government also planned to fix a calendar for the conduct of these national-level entrance exams.

One of the expert committees was formed to plan the annual schedule of JEE Main 2024, NEET UG 2024 and CUET 2024. The second one to review the infrastructure of examination centres for CUET.

NTA exam calendar for JEE, NEET, CUET

Taking into account the suggestions made by the committee, the NTA last year announced the CUET, NEET, JEE Main exam dates. Along with the NTA exam calendar, it also released the reserve dates for these exams in case an exam gets postponed or extended.

The UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar had said that the NTA will be announcing the exam dates for these largest entrance exams well in advance to give students enough time to prepare and to avoid delay, clash between board exams and competitive entrance exams.

Therefore, Class 12 students of all boards preparing to appear for entrance exams for BTech, MBBS, UG admission can expect the JEE Main 2024 exam dates, NEET UG 2024 exam date, CUET UG 2024 exam dates soon. The NTA will be uploading the updates at nta.ac.in or the respective official websites, jeemain.nta.nic.in, neet.nta.nic.in, cuet.samarth.ac.in.

Last year, the NTA announced the exam dates for JEE, NEET, CUET on December 16. However, Subodh Kumar Singh, the new director general of NTA told the Times of India that early exams are on cards as more institutes have opted for CUET UG 2024. Therefore, students can expect the exam dates for all three major entrance exams in the upcoming months.
