NIRF Ranking 2022: IISc Bengaluru tops research list for the second year

NIRF 2022 Ranking: IIT Madras, IIT Delhi claimed second and third positions in NIRF ranking list for research.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has claimed the top position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework’s (NIRF Ranking 2022) research category. Introduced last year, the eleventh category ranks institutes that may not teach a large number of students but are exclusively dedicated to research.
However, similar to other NIRF 2022 research ranking lists, the rest of the top positions have been claimed by Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) with IIT Madras and IIT Delhi placed second and third.
Last year, the second and third positions were held by IIT Bombay and IIT Madras. During the event union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan said: “All institutions have to come into the two frameworks -- accreditation and ranking.

This year Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Maharashtra and Vellore Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu are the two new entrants in the top 10 best research institutes category.
