NIRF Agriculture Ranking 2025: IARI New Delhi leads; IVRI Izatnagar in top 5

The NIRF ranking of agriculture colleges shows few changes; Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, has slipped out of top 5
The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, was placed first for the third year in a row in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 in the “agriculture and allied sector” category.

The deemed agri university, popularly known as the Pusa Institute, also made it to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) category, which was introduced this year in the Indian Rankings 2025. The institute was placed second among the three institutes chosen in the category.
There has been no change in the order of the top five agriculture universities, with the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana , Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly holding on to the second, third, fourth and fifth spots.
There has been only one change at the top of the table compared to the 2023 rankings, when the agriculture category was first introduced. The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, placed at the fifth spot two years ago, lost its position to IVRI.

The latest NIRF rankings were announced by the union education ministry on Thursday. As many as 14,163 centres from 7,692 unique higher educational institutions participated across 17 categories. Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is the top institution in NIRF 2025’s overall ranking as well as among engineering colleges; Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru is the top university; Indian Institute of Management Ahmednabad (IIMA) , the top business school and National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru, the top law school.
