NISD TAPAS: Over 500 candidates have registered for MOOC courses

TAPAS courses cover drug (substance) abuse prevention, geriatric/elderly care, care and management of dementia, transgender issues and social defence.
NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) in a social media post on Twitter said that more than 500 candidates have registered for their massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered via the Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services, or TAPAS, of the ministry of social justice and empowerment.

These courses offered under TAPAS can be taken by anyone who wishes to enhance their knowledge on the subjects and are free of cost.
Anyone who wishes to register for the certificate courses can visit the official website - tapas.dosje.gov.in .
TAPAS has been developed by NISD and will provide five basic courses in drug (substance) abuse prevention, geriatric/elderly care, care and management of dementia, transgender issues and social defence.
The courses seek to provide a much better access to online lectures by experts on various subjects, study material without compromising on the quality of education. The main motive of these modules is to enhance the knowledge and skills for capacity building of the participants.
TAPAS is a standard program with facilities such as filmed lectures on subject matter and e-study materials.
