NIT Rourkela holds 23rd convocation ceremony; confers degrees to 1,948 UG, PG, PhD graduates

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela holds its 23rd Convocation today and awards degrees to 1,948 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The graduating batch includes 471 female and 1,477 male students.

According to official data, 1,044 students receive Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degrees and 19 receive Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degrees. A total of 44 students graduate with dual BTech-MTech degrees, 65 with integrated MSc degrees, 170 with MSc, 25 with MA, 66 with MBA, 422 with MTech, and 93 with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

The institute states that this year, 81 international students completed their programmes at the institute. The group includes one each from Afghanistan, South Africa, and Sudan; 20 from Bangladesh; three from Bhutan; 32 from Nepal; and four from the United States. Along with them, 19 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students also graduated.

Recognition of academic excellence

In recognition of academic performance, the institute awarded nine Institute Gold Medals, seven Endowment Gold Medals, and nine Endowment Awards to branch toppers from the Class of 2025.

Distinguished Alumnus Awards were conferred on four graduates of NIT Rourkela. These included Aurobinda Routray (Academia and Research), Ranjan Nayak (Industry and Management), Subrat Pani (Entrepreneurship and Public Life), and Birendra Jena (Contribution to the Growth of the Institute).

“This time, NIT Rourkela advanced the 2024-2025 convocation to September 2025, and this aims to support graduating students, especially international students, by facilitating the timely collection of their original degrees, eliminating the need to revisit for the same,” the institute said.
