NIT Rourkela Placements 2025: 1,274 job offers, highest salary Rs 62.44 LPA despite global recession

NIT Rourkela: Despite global recession, more than 85 students bagged annual salary exceeding Rs 30 lakh, while highest internship offer touched Rs 1.26 lakh per month.
For NIT Rourkela students, the global recession-driven layoffs were no barrier — this year’s BTech placement drive recorded 1,274 job offers and 509 six-month internships leading to pre-placement offers (PPOs), the institute said.
The highest salary stood at Rs 62.44 lakh per annum (LPA), while more than 85 students received annual salaries exceeding Rs 30 lakh. Among flagship programmes, the average CTC for BTech was Rs 14.10 lakh and MTech was Rs 13.48 lakh. The highest internship offer touched Rs 1.26 lakh per month.
This year’s placement drive saw the participation of 373 recruiters, with nearly half (48.36%) participating for the first time. The majority came from the Software and IT Services sectors, followed by manufacturing, BFSI, electronics, and education.
The Department of Ceramic Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Engineering received 97.73%, 97.06%, and 94.48% placement offers respectively.
Additionally, 80% placements were recorded in electronics and communication engineering (ECE), electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and metallurgical and materials engineering.

Top recruiters included Google, AMD, Qualcomm, Wells Fargo, JSW, Amazon, ExxonMobil, DE Shaw & Co, Accenture, Barclays, Deloitte, MathWorks, ITC, Texas Instruments, American Express, HP, Bharat Petroleum, and several others.

NIT Rourkela Placement 2025: Highlights
Software and IT Services sectors led the placements with 22.9%. The remaining share was contributed by emerging domains such as aerospace, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. Sector-wise placement trends are given below.
