NLSIU Bengaluru appoints members to its School Review Commission 2023-24
SRC, comprising Timothy Endicott Catherine O’Regan and David B Wilkins, will review of all aspects of the university and submit its recommendations to the CJI.

NEW DELHI: The National Law School of India University has appointed members of its School Review Commission 2023-24. The appointed members include Timothy Endicott, the chair of the commission, Catherine O’Regan and David B Wilkins, both members.
The School Review Commission was appointed by the Chancellor of the university, chief justice DY Chandrachud, in consultation with the Karnataka government.

SRC will undertake a comprehensive review of all aspects of the university and submit its recommendations to the Chancellor by mid 2024. Endicott, who is presently the vinerian professor of english law at the University of Oxford, said, “Serving on this commission gives us an opportunity to learn about the groundbreaking developments in legal education that are underway at NLS Bangalore, and also to be closely involved in a very exciting future.”
Meanwhile, Wilkins, who is faculty director of the centre on the legal profession at the Harvard Law School, said this is a pivotal time for the legal profession, both in India and around the world. Since its founding in 1986, NLSIU has established itself as a pre-eminent centre for teaching and scholarship, producing leaders in every sector of society.
O’Regan, inaugural director, Bonavero Institute of Human Rights and Professor of Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford added that the commission will provide a valuable opportunity for reflection by the broader NLSIU community on what the university has already achieved, as well as the opportunities and challenges that it will face in the years ahead.

The SRC 2023-24 will undertake an extensive review including consultations with all university stakeholders over the coming months as they prepare their report. The CJI suggested to the SRC that their review will provide an opportunity for the university to reflect and grow and also help academics develop their highest potential.
Expressing his thoughts and insights, Sudhir Krishnaswamy, NLSIU Vice-Chancellor said, “The commission brings together pre-eminent global academics who have designed and shaped legal education across three continents. Their experience and wisdom will help NLS reflect on our role and contribution to consolidating the rule of law and constitutional democracy in India.”
