NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC)’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has approved Nalbari Medical College in Assam for 100 MBBS seats starting from the academic year 2023-24. The new college will be affiliated with the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. NMC has asked the college to provide required documents for issuance of Letter of Permission (LoP).

In a letter of intent for 100 MBBS seats, the commission informed that MARB examined the report of assessor, dated February 27, 2023, for assessing the availability of infrastructure facilities of the college, labs, library, hostels, hospitals; and the availability of faculty, their experience, publications; and residents or tutors, nursing and paramedical staff along with other facilities at the college. Upon examining the report, the MARB decided to approve the college for 100 MBBS seats.
