NMC invites applications for new medical colleges, course renewal, increase in UG, PG seats

NEW DELHI: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited applications for establishment of new medical colleges, renewal of existing medical courses, and increase in undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats for the academic year 2024-25.

The last date to submit applications for MBBS courses is September 17 whereas the deadline for MD, MS, MDS programmes is September 15. The commission has also issued guidelines, steps, and fees to submit the applications as well as fees for various processes such as inspection, starting of courses, recognition, change in name, etc.

According to the steps, the following documents will be required for submitting applications for starting of new medical colleges:

• Details of the individual, autonomous body or government who is starting the new medical college.
• Essentiality certificate
• Consent of Affiliation
• Hospital details as mentioned in the application
• Fees paid as prescribed by NMC

“Please upload the relevant and valid documents only. Old, invalid and expired documents viz. EC and COA will not be accepted,” the commission said in an official notice.

While inviting applications for UG level, NMC said that the applicants must fulfill the criteria as per the Minimum Standard Requirements for Establishment of New Medical College/Increase of seats in MBBS Course Guidelines, 2023. The regulations include mandatory departments, number of seats allowed, list of equipments, accommodation, teaching facilities, and staff requirements majorly.
