NMIMS School of Mathematics hosts 3-day international conference on statistics

The NMIMS conference saw the participation of statisticians, researchers and experts.
NEW DELHI: The School of Mathematics at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management and Sciences (NMIMS) and the Applied Statistics and Analytics (NSoMASA) jointly organised an international conference on statistics.
The three-day long conference was organised in collaboration with IDFC first bank, which saw the participation of statisticians, researchers and industry experts from around the world.

Experts shared their research findings and discussed the latest trends and challenges in the field of statistics. The ones who led the conference as keynote speakers included Somnath Datta, Avik Sarkar, Girish Aras, Rajesh Nandy, Thomas Mathew, David D Hanagal, S Chandrashekhar, Ashish Sengupta, Stefano Bonnini and Sandeep Verma.
Big data, explainable AI
Topics such as big data, inferential statistical learning, marginal models, drug development, explainable AI and others were discussed in the conference. Speakers present in the conference shared their insights and the inferences that they drew from their research.
NSoMASA dean Sushil Kulkarni said: "Statistics play an essential role in driving progress and innovation in today's data driven world. The International conference on statistics brings together leading experts from around the world to share their research, insights and perspectives on the latest trends and developments in statistics."
The chairperson of the conference, KS Madhava Rao, said: "The international conference on statistics is truly a confluence of thoughts and ideas emerging from three interdependent disciplines of science, which are mathematics, statistics and computer science. The researches in these three areas have contributed to emerging areas of data science and artificial intelligence".
