No torn NEET OMR sheet sent via official mail ID: NTA on viral video

NEW DELHI: No torn OMR sheet of NEET 2024 was sent through an official ID, clarified the National Testing Agency (NTA) while replying to a viral video shared by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. In the viral video, a candidate named Ayushi Patel is shown claiming that she obtained a torn OMR sheet and alleged discrepancies in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) result 2024.

“Regarding the viral video featuring Ms. Ayushi Patel, claiming discrepancies in NEET (UG) 2024 scoring and receiving of the torn OMR answer sheet, NTA clarifies that no torn OMR answer sheet was sent via an official NTA ID. OMR answer sheet is intact and scores are accurate as per official records. Candidate should download scorecards only from the website,” NTA said.

As per the candidate, she didn’t receive her NEET UG 2024 result, which was declared on June 8, and received a mail from NTA that her results can’t be shown. Following this, the candidate and her parents responded to the mail, asking for the display of her OMR sheet. In the video, the female student showed that she received images of torn sheets and upon calculation, she’s expecting 715 marks. The candidate’s parents, who are advocates, have filed a petition regarding the discrepancy and the hearing is due for tomorrow, June 11.

While sharing the video, the Congress leader attacked the centre and said that the Modi government will have to take "serious steps" to correct "irregularities" in exams.

In a post on X, the leader said in Hindi, “Lakhs of children prepare hard for exams like NEET and spend the most precious moments of their lives in this preparation. The whole family puts their faith and strength in this effort. But year after year, paper leaks and irregularities related to results have been reported in these exams.”

Irregularities in NEET result 2024

“Shouldn't the accountability of the agencies conducting the exams be fixed? Shouldn't the government give up its careless attitude and seriously consider the exam system?,” Gandhi asked and said that the ‘injustice’ to the students’ hard work should stop. The opposition demanded an investigation into the NEET results 2024 under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

Recently, NTA announced that the education ministry has set up a four-member committee to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates in NEET 2024 result. The medical entrance exam results led to a controversy as 67 students secured the top rank and several candidates alleged ‘irregularities’, however, NTA denied any.
