NTA to conduct December 6 UGC NET exam again in Chennai, Nellore; merges PG studies schemes

UGC has given a chance to candidates who were not able to appear for UGC NET exam due to the Michaung cyclone.
NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency will conduct the December 6 UGC NET exams on December 14 for candidates whose exam centres were in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. These areas were hit by the Michaung cyclone.

The UGC said “Many candidates in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh were not able to reach the exam centres scheduled on December 6, 2023, due to the Michaung cyclone. Therefore, the National Testing Agency has decided to give another opportunity to appear in the UGC – NET December 2023 Exam, which will be conducted on December 14, 2023, for cyclone affected candidates in Chennai and Nellore for those candidates.”
The opportunity is only available to the candidates who could not reach the exam centre. The UGC NET December 2023 exam will consist of two papers, which will be conducted in computer-based mode.

Merger of PG studies schemes
The UGC has also merged the schemes for postgraduate studies into one scheme 'National Scholarship for PG Studies'. This scheme has been launched on the national scholarship portal and is currently open for online applications.
It added that the students who have GATE score cards issued in March 2023 and wish to apply for PG-GATE scholarship for 2023-24 may send a request on Scholarship Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP) before December 31. No requests will be entertained after the last date. It may be noted that students can avail for only one scholarship at a time.
