NEW DELHI, AUGUST 21: Following the press release held on July 7 th , 2018 by Prakash Javadekar, the final schedule of the examination to be conducted by NTA has been released for all exams under its purview. National Testing Agency (NTA) was approved and set up in November 2017 to take over the charge of conducting all the examination previously conducted by CBSE namely UGC-NET, JEE Main, NEET, CMAT and GPAT.
Earlier, the tentatives dates were announced by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD). The government has now released the final schedule for the UGC NET, JEE Main I (January Session), JEE Main II (April Session), NEET (UG), CMAT and GPAT exams. This schedule is till May 2019.
NTA is also opening a network of Test Practice Centres (TPCs) in 2697 Schools/Engineering Colleges for all the rural students across the country to enable them to have an opportunity to practice well before the exam. Starting from September 1 st , 2018 these centres will be available on every weekends (Saturday and Sundays) for the students for free of charge. This will benefit a large group of students specially the one who do not have access to computer centres and cannot practise for a computer based test.
The TPCs will have a downloaded Computer Based Test similar to the one that the students will face in the JEE Main 2019 exam. The TPCs have been established to help the students to familiarize with the upcoming pattern of the JEE Main exam as well as logging into the system, reading and understanding the detailed test instructions before proceeding with the same, using the mouse or numeric keyboard for attempting questions, scrolling down to the next question, going back to the previous question, reviewing and editing their options as well as submitting the questions. All these will help the students to get a better idea of the new methodology being attempted by the exam conducting body.
The surprise announcement was for NEET 2019. Unlike the statement mentioned on July 7 th , 2018 press release, NEET Exam pattern will be similar to the previous year one. It will also be conducted in a single session in pen-and-paper mode in the same number of languages as last year.
