NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 3: The first stage of the National Talent Search Examination(NTSE) has been conducted for Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andamans and Nicobar Islands. The first paper of the exam was held for a duration of two hours starting at 9:30 am and ending at 11:30 am. The second paper for SAT will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Students who qualify in stage 1 of NTSE, conducted by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) can appear for the second round of the exam to be conducted on May 12, 2019. The NTSE first stage exam for the other states and Union Territories(UTs) would be conducted on November 4, 2018.
The NTSE first stage exam includes two papers- Paper 1 or Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Paper 2 or Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT). Candidates have to clear both the papers separately to be considered for the next round. However, selection will be done only on the basis of the combined score in both MAT and SAT. Candidates have to score at least 40 per cent to qualify. However, the minimum qualifying marks for SC, ST and Physically challenged students is 32 per cent.
Over 1000 scholarships are on offer for students studying in class 10. Scholarships are offered till Ph.D level. Students of class 11 and 12 will get Rs.1250 per month. UG and PG students will get Rs. 2000 per month.
