Odisha college reopening from February 10 notice is fake, clarifies higher education department

Odisha higher education department warned that a fake letter is circulating on social media saying colleges will reopen from February 10.
NEW DELHI: The Odisha higher education department has warned students that a fake letter on reopening of colleges and universities in the state is making rounds on social media. The government has not taken any such decision, it said.

“A fake letter is circulating in social media purportedly conveying decision of Higher Education Department to reopen colleges and universities from 10th Feb’2022. It is hereby clarified that no such decision has been taken by the state government,” higher education department tweeted.

On January 7, the Odisha government decided to shut all colleges, universities and technical institutions in the state until February 1, 2022, owing to the rising Covid cases in the state. Medical colleges, nursing colleges and other institutions under the ministry of health and family welfare were exempted from this closure, said an order from the Odisha government. The educational institutions and all hostels of the institutions in the state were closed from January 10 onwards.

The Odisha government has also allowed educational institutions to continue all the ongoing offline exams for now by strictly adhering to Covid protocols such as social distancing, wearing masks, using sanitisers among others.
Meanwhile, Anna University in Chennai has postponed the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) semester examinations, scheduled on February 19, due to local body elections in Tamil Nadu. The university has also released the Anna University UG, PG exam revised timetable for November-December 2021 exams at annauniv.edu.
