Odisha government declares school holiday for Srimandir Parikrama project inauguration on January 17

Shree Jagannath temple administration invited representatives of 90 religious institutions across the country to attend the event on January 17.
NEW DELHI: The Government of Odisha has announced a state-wide public holiday tomorrow, on January17 due to the inauguration of Jagannath Parikrama porject in Puri. According to PTI reports, the Odisha Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a statment that all government schools, colleges and offices in the state will remain closed.
According to the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration's official website, the Shreemandira Parikrama is a projected 75-meter corridor that would encircle the Shree Jagannatha Temple in Puri. The project's goal is to construct open and clear walkways surrounding the Meghanada Pacheri, allowing devotees and pilgrims to interact visually with the Temple, Neelchakra, and Meghanada Pacheri. Furthermore, the Shreemandira Parikrama would provide pilgrims with amenities while also improving the temple's and devotees' safety and security.

Meanwhile, after a lengthy winter vacation due to extreme cold weather, Delhi schools resumed classes on January 15. Winter vacation for school children was slated to end on January 6, with classes resuming on January 8. However, due to strong cold waves, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow notice owing to dense fog, light rainfall, and a drop in temperature, and therefore the winter vacation extended across the national capital's schools.
Holiday for Ram Mandir consecration ceremony
In view of the Ram Mandir consecration event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the state on January 22. Additionally, schools in Chhattisgarh and Ayodhya will also have a holiday on January 22 due to the Ram temple consecration ceremony. The school and colleges in Goa will also remain closed on January 22 for the same.
