PAU students win 18 prizes in Punjab inter-university youth festival 2023

NEW DELHI: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has won 18 awards at the Punjab state inter-university youth festival 2023-24, which was hosted at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. The event was hosted from November 26 to 29, 2023, under the directorate of youth services, government of Punjab.

The PAU students won gold medals in pihri bunnah, pakkhi bunnah, rwaeity pehrawa and mehandi; Silver Medals in lammi heka wale geet, phulkari kadna, gazal, poster making and one act play; and bronze medals in chikku bnaunah, nalaa bunnah, bhand, mime, group folk song, muhavredaar vartalaap, collage making, rangoli and photography events.

PAU students took part in 34 activities in the categories of dance, music, theatre, literature, fine arts, and heritage.

Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor of PAU, congratulated the students; dance, drama, music club (DDMC) Presidents of all the constituent colleges of PAU, and officials of the Directorate Students’ Welfare for winning the medals and bringing recognition to the University.

He said, “Your sheer commitment and passion towards your goal has enabled you to put up an impressive show and led to individual as well as collective victory,”.

Jaswinder Kaur Brar, associate director culture at PAU, said that 17 government and private institutions from Punjab took part in this four-day youth event. The PAU group comprising of 114 students competed in a variety of team and individual activities and demonstrated exceptional performance.

Contribution of president of UDDMC Vishal Bector; president of University Fine Arts Club Rupinder Kaur; and presidents of DDMC of constituent colleges, namely Nilesh Biwalkar, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology; Ashoo Toor, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; Sharanbir Kaur Bal, College of Community Science; and Karan Bir Singh Gill, College of Horticulture and Forestry, were also recognised
