NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common University Examination Test (CUET 2024) for admission into pharmacy courses offered by various state and central universities. The admission to pharmacy colleges are also held through NIPER JEE, GPAT, WBJEE, TS EAPCET, OJEE and others.
Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT), and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Joint Entrance Examination (NIPER JEE) are some of the other national exams for admission into pharmacy colleges.
The National Testing agency is the organising agency for the GPAT. It is a computer-based test (CBT) mode for granting admission to the MPharma course. The GPAT has 125 multiple choice questions (MCQs) which the students have to answer within three hours. The exam is held for admission into 782 participating institutions offering 39,670 MPharm seats.
NIPER JEE is held for admission into MPharm and PhD programmes in pharmacy in NIPER institutes. The NIPER JEE is a computer-based exam that has 200 multiple-choice questions. The NIPERs have 820 seats in MPharm, MS Pharm, MTech Pharm, and PhD courses offered at NIPER institutes in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Raebareli, and SAS Nagar.
The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) conducts the national NMIMS NPAT exam for admission into BPharm MBA (Pharma Tech). NPAT scores are used for admission into NPAT institutes located in Mumbai, Shipur, and Hyderabad. NPAT is a computer-based in which students have to attempt 120 MCQs in 100 minutes.

The syllabus for these exams includes the topics such as history of pharmaceutical practice through ages, poharmacopoeias, fundamentals and classification of organic reaction, reaction intermediates, stereochemistry, study of reaction mechanism, reactivity and orientation, occurrence of impurities in pharmaceutical preparations, tests for identity and purity, pharmaceutical uses and assay methods as given in Indian harmacopeia and others.
