PM Modi visits Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre on IIT Madras campus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed on the centre’s research and efforts to map the human brain at cellular and connectivity levels.
Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre on the IIT-Madras campus, and he was briefed on the functions and research of the institute by experts.
After launching the Chennai Metro Rail's phase two yellow line and following darshan at a temple on the IIT-M campus, PM Modi paid a visit to the centre. Launched in 2022 by IIT Madras, the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre, according to the institute, is "to power an ambitious global project to map the human brain at the cellular and connectivity levels, with a focus on high-resolution brain imaging."

This state-of-the-art Centre aims to become a world-renowned research centre, generating unprecedented human brain data, scientific output and technology tools. Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay accompanied the PM.
