NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of centenary celebrations of the University of Delhi to be held on June 30. The DU public relations officer (PRO), Anoop Lather, said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modiji will be the chief guest of the programme. Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be the guest of honour."

The valedictory ceremony will be hosted at the multipurpose hall at the university's sports complex.

Delhi University was established on May 1, 1922. The DU centenary celebrations were organised by the university throughout the last one year. The inaugural ceremony of the celebrations was organised on May 1, 2022 and the then vice president M Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest at the event. Dharmendra Pradhan was the guest of honour.

The university had allocated Rs 10 crore for its centenary celebrations. Several programmes were organised during the year-long centenary celebrations. It also allowed drop-out students to appear in the "centenary chance examination" to complete their degrees. As per the update, more than 8,500 students had applied for the exam.

It was during the inauguration that the university released the Delhi University’s commemorative stamp and coin and announced to introduce new courses of BTech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC) and Electrical Engineering (EE).
