NEW DELHI: The National Students’ Union of India has demanded postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2022 scheduled on March 12 as it overlaps with NEET PG 2021 counselling schedule. NSUI has written a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), National Medical Commission (NMC), and National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) seeking the postponement of the exam.

“The notice of NEET PG 2022 is out and is scheduled amidst the third wave on March 12, 2022. Moreover, the ongoing counselling of NEET PG 2021 overlaps with the exam which makes it uncertain for the waiting list students, whether to wait or to prepare again with added burden and tension,” the Union said in its letter.
The Union referred to the fact that the NEET MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) exam was postponed by 3 months earlier as the counselling process was not yet over in December 2021 and asked why the same step cannot be taken for NEET PG 2022.
The Union also raised concern over 8300 interns from over 10 states being ineligible for the exam. The internship of these students was delayed due to the pandemic and the rule is that only those students who complete their internship by May 31 are eligible to sit in exams.

“Therefore, this notice of NBE makes these covid warriors ineligible to give examination which will lead to loss of their one complete year,” NSUI stated.
Recently, students also demanded postponement of NEET PG 2022 as starting NEET PG 2022 four days before the NEET PG Counselling ends has left students with a difficult choice. The NEET PG 2022 exam date is March 12 and the last date to join after the NEET PG Counselling stray round is March 16, 2022.
