President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates 50th foundation day celebrations of IIM Bangalore

A book ‘The Making of a Campus: IIM Bangalore’ and a film ‘IIMB: The Journey Towards Excellence’ was released during IIMB's golden jubilee celebration.
NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu said Indian Institute of Management (IIM Bangalore) has pioneered innovation and capacity building, and has left a lasting impact on education and research. The President made the comments while inaugurating the foundation day of IIM Bangalore as part of its golden jubilee celebrations yesterday.
“In the last 50 years, IIM Bangalore has not only produced managers but also leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and change-makers. Education at this institution prepares the best of minds to deal with problems, challenges and issues not only in the boardrooms, workplace and the marketplace, but also in every imaginable and perceivable walk of life,” the President said.
She added that since the inception of the institute, professionalism, efficiency and competency have been the defining features of IIM Bangalore. “We are living in exciting times and this is the age of the fourth industrial revolution. The work being done by the IIM Bangalore’s data centre and analytical lab in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data, and machine learning will have a profound impact on the future of business and economy,” Murmu said.
The President advised the future wealth creators to imbibe Mahatma Gandhi’s lessons of life which are not inconsistent with the ethics of business. She highlighted that without ethics, success was sinful for Gandhiji.
IIM Bangalore impacts progress
Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, who was present at the occasion, congratulated IIMB on its golden jubilee and said, “ IIM Bangalore’s innovative ideas , the achievements of its students and alumni in diverse fields, the contributions of the world-class faculty, the research collaborations and industry partnerships, and the extensive range of executive education programmes impact our growth and progress as a nation and help uphold the reputation of our country.”

He also released the book, ‘The Making of a Campus: IIM Bangalore’, authored by Kiran Keswani. The book tells the story of the architecture of the institute and of the people who have inhabited its ‘spaces’ and made it into the ‘place’ that it is. A film ‘IIMB: The Journey Towards Excellence’ was also released during the occasion.
The IIM Bangalore is holding a four-day celebration to celebrate its golden jubilee. The institute will organise cultural programmes, quizzes, awards, and other programmes.
