Recently, the Punjab government has issued a clarification regarding the implementation of 1% quota in private medical colleges for Jammu and Kashmir migrants who were displaced due to terrorist violence.
As per the update, the 1% reservation has been further divided into two preference categories: Jammu and Kashmir students who meet their eligibility criteria and those who do not.
Migrants from J-K due to terrorist violence will be given 1% reservation in private medical colleges in the state. Additionally, candidates applying under the 1% quota will be considered for the round 3 counselling.
"The MCC on its website released the revised schedule for All India Counselling and state counselling on October 9. In consonance with the revised schedule, the Punjab State counselling 3 schedule under NEET UG-2025 is hereby revised," the official Punjab NEET UG notice reads.

The Punjab NEET counselling 2025 includes three rounds of counselling, including a mop-up round in case of vacant seats. During the counselling session, candidates have to submit their preferences for courses and colleges for admission. Based on the choices filled, reservation criteria, and seat matrix, candidates will be allotted seats.
