Rajasthan FMG interns call for Jaipur protest over stipend; FAIMA seeks govt intervention

Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) interns in Rajasthan have announced a protest at the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Jaipur, on September 16 over the issue of stipend payment and alleged discrimination in stipend benefits.

The group FMGS Rajasthan announced the protest through a post on X, asking FMG interns to gather at the DME office at 9 am. The protest will be held at Chikitsa Shiksha Bhawan, Govind Marg, Adarsh Nagar, Jaipur.

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also urged the Rajasthan government to intervene and address the stipend concerns of FMG interns.

Rajasthan FMG stipend protest on September 16

According to FMGS Rajasthan, the interns will raise their concerns directly before the responsible authorities during the September 16 protest.

“We are doctors too. We are working in hospitals too. We are providing our services too. So why the discrimination against us?” the group said in its post.

The group urged FMGs, medical interns and supporters to participate in the protest peacefully and democratically. It said the demand is for equal treatment and stipend for FMG interns performing internship duties.

The Rajasthan Medical Council's June 2026 FMG counselling schedule included internship seat allocation and joining of candidates at allotted colleges. The council's website also lists the 2026 FMG internship counselling process.

FAIMA seeks stipend parity for Rajasthan FMGs

In a post on X, FAIMA Doctors Association said it stands with FMG interns in Rajasthan who are seeking stipend parity. The association claimed that despite directions concerning stipend parity, some FMGs are being made to work without receiving the stipend due to them.

“Same work. Same responsibility. Equal stipend,” FAIMA said while urging the Rajasthan government, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the state health minister to intervene in the matter.

FAIMA called for immediate action to address the concerns of FMG interns and ensure that they receive the stipend applicable to them.

The association said it “strongly stands” with FMG interns in Rajasthan and will continue to support their demand for fair treatment and dignity.
