NEW DELHI: The Students' Federation of India (SFI) Delhi activists, leaders, and students held a silent protest on the 14th Ambedkar Memorial Lecture at Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) after the suspension of three students. As per the SFI statement, they expressed their dissent by holding photos of Ambedkar and posters demanding to restore campus democracy, attack on elected student union, restricted students movement, removal of barricades and 5 pm curfew and revoke unjust suspensions of students.
AUD recently suspended three after the AUDSC elections as they tried to help a distressed student raise their voice to the administration. Many students were on hunger strike for their demands and to revoke the unjust suspensions of students.
"The AUD admin had already unjustly suspended three students right after the AUDSC elections as they tried to help a distressed student raise their voice to the admin. Later, in the last week, many students were on a hunger strike demanding the above mentioned demands and to revoke the unjust suspensions," the official SFI statement said.
However, in response to this, the AUD admin suspended five more students, and two of them were elected union members. They approached the VC and registrar, who refused to enter a dialogue with not only regular students but also the union members for almost a week.

As per the official SFI statement, the SFI Delhi president Sooraj Elamon said: “Students have been on hunger strike in campus from 140 hours and the administration has not sought to have any conversation with the elected representatives. This is an alarming situation in the university which is named after Babasaheb Ambedkar. Administration should immediately meet the students and resolve the concerns of the students”.
To stand against such cruelty for the sake of students, a few common students led by SFI Delhi expressed their dissent by holding photos of Ambedkar and placards in the face of AUD vice chancellor Anu Singh Lather and other guests present at the lecture event to revoke all the unjust suspensions that AUD has done till now.
