Sharda University's two professors receive Rs 83 lakh ICMR grant
Preeti Jain has secured the PhD in Coordination Chemistry from Gautam Buddha University and Garima Chauhan has completed PhD Biotechnology from Jamia Hamdard.

NEW DELHI: Principal Investigator (PI) Preeti Jain and Co-PI Garima Chauhan of Sharda University have been awarded a prestigious government grant of Rs 83.11 lakh for extramural research by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). School of Basic Science and Research dean Shyamal Kumar Banerjee congratulated Preeti Jain and Garima Chauhan for their contribution in the field of science and research.
Preeti Jain has secured the PhD in Coordination Chemistry from Gautam Buddha University and MTech in Chemical Analysis from IIT Delhi. She has qualified CSIR-UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and GATE examinations. Her research interest involves the ‘development of novel chemotherapeutics and their theoretical and experimental investigations’ and she is involved in publishing the research paper in the journal of international repute. She has been associated with Sharda University since 2017 as an assistant professor.
Garima Chauhan has completed her PhD Biotechnology from Jamia Hamdard with specialisation in parasite immunology, drug development and drug repurposing against infectious diseases. Ten years of research experience in field of drug development, and drug delivery vehicles against infectious diseases

Preeti Jain said, “The goal of the research effort is to create and produce an oral medication to treat visceral leishmaniasis, a neglected tropical illness. It is a crucial area for the government and WHO. This project of India comes under the Discovery Research Division of ICMR.
Sharda University vice-chancellor Sibaram Khara said “It is a proud moment for the whole Sharda group. These kinds of awards allow us to innovate in the medical profession and help the general public. We always support our faculty members' research and innovation because these are the skills that will shape every industry in the future.”
