Shoolini University climbs to 4th in India in THE Asia Rankings 2026. This year’s performance reflects the university’s steady progress, particularly in some areas

Shoolini University has moved up to the 4th spot in India and 158th in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026, improving from its 5th position last year.
The rankings, which assessed 929 universities across 36 countries and territories, included 128 institutions from India. Shoolini stood out as the top private university in North India and one of the few private institutions in the country to feature alongside established names like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and IIT Indore.
This year’s performance reflects the university’s steady progress, particularly in areas such as research quality, international exposure, and teaching outcomes, key factors used in the rankings.
A major contributor to Shoolini University’s improved ranking is its strong performance in research quality. The institution is ranked 4th in India on this parameter and continues to build a reputation for producing impactful research.

Over the years, the university has invested heavily in research and innovation. Faculty members and students have filed more than 1,900 intellectual property portfolios, highlighting a strong focus on practical and meaningful outcomes.
Another standout achievement is its position as the top university in Asia for citations per paper. This reflects not just the quantity of research being produced, but how widely it is being referenced and used by the global academic community.
Chancellor P. K. Khosla described the ranking as an important milestone for the university. He said, “This milestone marks a significant step forward from our position last year, at #5. It is particularly encouraging to see Shoolini placed among leading institutions in India, alongside premier names such as the Indian Institute of Science and IIT Indore, and among very few private universities at this level.”
Chancellor Vishal Anand said the achievement aligns with the university’s long-term plans. “Our strategy is to build Shoolini into a top global campus for research and innovation by 2030. This milestone reinforces our belief that we are on the right path,” he said.

Since it was established in 2009, the university has steadily improved its presence in global rankings, supported by a research-driven approach and growing international collaborations.
The university’s consistent rise can also be linked to its focus on innovation-led learning and real-world application of research. Its collaborations with global institutions and emphasis on quality publications have strengthened its academic profile.
Vice Chancellor Atul Khosla said the recognition reflects years of focused effort. He said, “Being ranked among Asia’s top universities and fourth in India is a testament to the university’s sustained focus on research and innovation.”
“As a research and innovation-driven university nestled in the Himalayas, near Shimla, we welcome the global academic community to experience the spirit of learning and inspiration that defines Shoolini,” he added.
