Jaipur: Residents of Rajasthan will soon have access to affordable international-standard dermatology services in the government sector, with an institute of dermatology set to be soon operational at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) here. Officials said on Monday that treatments that currently cost lakhs of rupees in private hospitals will be available to the public at minimal rates.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, said the institute is the second most advanced and state-of-the-art dermatology centre in the world after the one in London. It will provide high-quality medical facilities in the field of skin care.

"The institute is equipped with six advanced laser machines, including diode laser, fractional carbon dioxide laser, excimer laser, Nd-YAG laser, and alexandrite laser, which are used for various congenital and cosmetic conditions," she said. Rathore said the institute will offer hair restoration treatment using Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy and wrinkle reduction using latest machines.

Treatments for vitiligo and psoriasis through laser therapy and other skin disorders using radio frequency technology will also be available. "Such high-level dermatology treatments, which costs lakhs in private institutions, will now be accessible to the common public at affordable rates," she said.

On the newly built Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at the SMS Hospital, Rathore said the work on the state-of-the-art cardiac tower has been completed. Equipment installation has also been finished, and the institute will be operational soon to provide world-class heart care under one roof.

The Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences will have 212 beds, five operation theatres, five cath labs, and four OPD counters, providing high-quality cardiac treatment facilities to patients.
