Shiv Nadar University Chennai celebrates second convocation; awards degrees to 446 students

Shiv Nadar University Chennai awarded degrees to 446 students from the Class of 2026 at its second convocation ceremony on July 21. Sridhar Vembu, chief scientist and co-founder of Zoho Corporation, graced the event as the chief guest. He was joined by Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Shikhar Malhotra, trustees of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, along with R. Srinivasan, chancellor of Shiv Nadar University Chennai, and S K Bhattacharyya, vice chancellor, who congratulated the graduating students on their achievement.

The convocation brought together graduating students, parents, deans of various departments, members of the Board, faculty, alumni and distinguished guests. Addressing the students, Sridhar Vembu, chief scientist and co-founder of Zoho Corporation, said, "As you graduate today, remember that every technological revolution rewards those who are willing to learn and reinvent themselves. AI will reshape industries, but it also reinforces an enduring truth: strong foundations matter. Whatever your field, invest in mastering the fundamentals, because technology is only as powerful as the quality of the thinking that guides it. Stay curious, embrace change with optimism, and never stop earning your place in an evolving world.”

Convocation highlights

Speaking at the convocation, S K Bhattacharyya, vice chancellor, said the ceremony marked the beginning of a new journey for the graduates. He expressed confidence that the education, skills, and values imparted at the university would prepare students to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Shikhar Malhotra, trustee, Shiv Nadar Foundation, said the Foundation has always believed that building world-class institutions is key to unlocking India's potential. He also highlighted that the foundation's 13 academic institutions collectively educate more than 18,000 students with the support of a committed community of faculty and administrators.

The graduating batch of Shiv Nadar University comprised students from the Engineering, Commerce, and Economics departments. Several students were honoured for their outstanding academic performance, research achievements, leadership, and contributions to the university community.

The university also highlighted its strong placement record, with 81% of the Class of 2026 securing job offers across sectors such as IT, fintech, emerging technologies, AI and data science, product and SaaS, consulting, analytics, e-commerce, banking, manufacturing, financial services, and audit and tax. Several graduates have opted to pursue higher education in India and abroad. The highest annual salary package offered to a student from the batch was Rs 1 crore.
