Sona College of Technology gets NAAC A++ accreditation
Sona College received a CGPA of 3.65 from NAAC for its recent performance in research and innovation.

NEW DELHI: Sona College of Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, has been accredited with NAAC A++, the highest grade granted by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission. The college secured a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.65.
NAAC evaluation of Sona College
The NAAC A++ grade was awarded to Sona College of Technology following comprehensive assessments by a team of academicians and education administrators nominated by NAAC. The evaluation covered various aspects, including curriculum, teaching, and learning; research, innovation, and extension; infrastructure and learning resources; student support and progression; governance, leadership, and management; and institutional values. The evaluation team also met with parents, alumni, faculty, and employers recruiting Sona graduates during their visit.
The NAAC A++ ranking applies to 14 undergraduate engineering programs and 10 postgraduate engineering programs, including Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programmes offered by Sona College.
Key Achievements of Sona College
The management of Sona College of Technology attributed their achievement of the highest range of CGPA (3.51-4.00) and the A++ grade to several key accomplishments in recent years. The key achievements of Sona College include the commercialization of research work by SonaSPEED (Sona Special Power Electronics and Electric Drives), such as the permanent magnet simplex stepper motor used in mixture ratio control during the launch stage of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Additionally, the college has filed 128 patents in the last five years, and Sona faculty members have achieved top rankings in NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) examinations. The institution has also been recognized as the best industry linked institution by CII-AICTE (Confederation of Indian Industry - All India Council for Technical Education) for the past eight years.
