SRM Institute of Science and Technology ranked among top fifty universities of India by NIRF

NEW DELHI, APRIL 5: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has been ranked among top 50 universities of India by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework).
The NIRF ranking has 5 major parameters namely Teaching, Learning and Resources; Research and Professional Practices; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception. Each parameter has 100 marks but with varying weightages with 30% weighteach for Teaching, Learning and Resources and Research and Professional Practices.
Large institutes are given common overall rank as well as discipline specific ranks. These parameters aim at providing better learning experience to the students, professional approach for the universities and informed perception for the public.
Rankings not only support universities in terms of striving for betterment but they also give a universal recognition. Over 4,000 institutions had applied for India Rankings - 2018 whereas the figure for the last year was 3000. Ranking promotes competition among the Universities and drive them to strive for excellence.
Government has also started a scheme called ‘Institutions of Eminence’ in which 20 institutions both public and private would be selected on challenge method and they would be actively supported to be ranked globally.
