NEW DELHI: Indian Orthodontic Society and Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, jointly organized a three-day National Typodont Workshop. 34 dental colleges from all over India took part in the workshop. The workshop included lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions on various orthodontic procedures and techniques to orthodontic Postgraduate students.
The National Typodont Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Balvinder Singh Thakkar, President, Indian Orthodontic Society, Dr. Sanjay Labh, Secretary Indian Orthodontic Society, Dr. A Ravi Kumar, Pro Vice Chancellor (MHS) SRMIST, Dr. Vivek N, Dean, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital and Dr. K T Magesh, Vice Principal, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Prof Dr. Deepak Chandrasekaran, Head of the Department, Orthodontics SRM Kattankulathur Dental College was the organizing chairman of the typodont workshop, Dr. Deenadayalan, Associate Professor was organizing secretary, and other organizing committee members include Dr. Akshay Tandon, Dr. Nidhi Angrish, Dr. Krithika A, Dr. Katepogu Praveen.
The workshop focused on the basics of orthodontics, including various wire bending techniques like loops and archwire fabrication, bracket placement procedures M.B.T Technique, Roth Philosophy, Begg and Self-Ligating systems, along with lectures and demonstrations hands-on in direct printed clear aligners, Lingual Orthodontics and TMD splint fabrication. 30 speakers from various parts of the country shared their knowledge with budding Orthodontic Postgraduate students. The participants appreciated the workshop, it gave them the opportunity to learn from experts and gain practical experience into the latest trends and techniques in orthodontics. They also had the opportunity to network with peers from other dental colleges and share their experiences.
National Typodont Workshop conducted by the Indian Orthodontic Society and Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, provided valuable learning experience for participants and helped in furthering the cause of dental education in India.
