SSC Constable GD exam for CAPF will be held in 13 regional languages from 2024: Home ministry
The ministry said decision will result in lakhs of aspirants taking part in CAPF Constable GD exam in their mother tongue, improve their selection prospects.
NEW DELHI: In a major development, the ministry of home affairs has approved conducting Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) constable (General Duty) exam in 13 regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English.
Constable GD is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission attracting lakh of candidates from across the country. The CAPF Constable GD exams will be held in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English from January 1, 2024 onwards.
“The historic decision has been taken at the initiative of Union home minister and minister of cooperation Amit Shah to give impetus to participation of local youth in the CAPF and encourage regional languages,” the ministry said.
The SSC Constable GD question paper will be set in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu,Odia, Urdu, Punjabi,Manipuri and Konkani.
“The decision will result in lakhs of aspirants taking part in the examination in their mother tongue/regional language and improve their selection prospects,” it added.
‘The Ministry of Home Affairs and Staff Selection Commission would sign an addendum to the existing MoU to facilitate the conduct of the examination in multiple Indian languages,” it said.
With an aim to encourage use and development of regional languages, the minister said that the “States/UT governments are expected to launch a wide campaign encouraging local youths to use this opportunity of taking the examination in their mother tongue and participate in huge numbers to make a career serving the country.”
