NEW DELHI: The government of Himachal Pradesh has suspended the functioning Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) with immediate effect after junior assistant (information technology) (JOA-IT) paper leak incident.

The government has also stated that the there has been recent information on leak of junior auditors and computer operators exam papers that was scheduled to be held in the near future. The official notice also states that such malpractices have been in connivance with the personnel of the commission.

"All ongoing and pending recruitment processes will be on hold, till further orders. "The acts of omissions and commission in the HPSSC, Hamirpur, have not only eroded its credibility but also adversely affected the larger public interest. Prima facie, it appears that the HPSSC, Hamirpur has not discharges its duties and responsibilities objectively, in a transparent manner as well as with due confidentiality to the detriment of the job aspirants." read the Himachal Pradesh government notice.

As per orders by Himachal Pradesh government, chief secretary, RD Dhiman, the various officials in the HPSSC will now be required to report to the officer-on-special duty with immediate effect. The JOA-IT was cancelled after the leak was discovered, it was previously scheduled to be held on December 25, 2022. A total of Rs 2.5 lakh and solved question papers were recovered from a HPSSC employee.
